Horticultural Plastics Recycling

AGSI can recycle a host plastics used in the horticulture industry.

Each year, more than 30 million pounds of plastics are created and used by nurseries, garden centers, landscapers, and green industry consumers in the United States.

Almost all of this material is sent to the landfill. Plastic is not biodegradable and remains intact for 200-400 years.

For 2 years AGSI has been partnering with green industry businesses and associations, enabling them to operate their firms in ways that are more, well, green!

AGSI is happy to talk with you to determine logistics, collection, and best management procedures in order to create a horticultural recycling program in your area.

The following hort plastics can be processed by AGSI:

  • Plastic garden pots of any size, shape, or color
  • Polystyrene trays / cell packs
  • Plastic hanging baskets
  • Greenhouse poly--clear and white
  • Plastic landscape edging
  • Irrigation drip tape ( no PVC pipe)
  • Fertilizer, mulch, and salt bags
  • Pesticide jugs (these must be triple-rinsed, by law)
  • Shrink wrap--clear, white, and black
